Statue of Vulcan with Hat and Scarf

Vulcan’s View

written & performed by Chris Brailsford

Somebody up there is watching you. 24/7 – 364 days a year…

No, not Big Brother – Big Blacksmith! Vulcan – South Yorkshire’s very own metal-bashing god.

Stuck on top of the Town Hall with only one shift a year off: and tonight’s the night!

Follow his journey from Mt. Olympus to South Yorkshire. See a few scenes from local history. Find out what he thinks about… well, pretty much everything.

Oh, and get to know the real truth about the size of his ‘equipment’…!

‘Vulcan’s View’ is a grand tour of ‘round here’ in story, song and verse, written and performed by Sheffield actor Chris Brailsford, who’s forged his own career in radio, film and TV, including ‘The Fully Monty’ and ‘Coronation Street’.

The play opened at Sheffield Town Hall on 19th October 2009 as part of the ‘Off the Shelf’ literary festival, and was later seen at the Rotherham Arts Centre and the Tapton Masonic Hall in Sheffield.

Based on fact (but taking a few liberties!) the play will appeal to anyone with an interest in local history, the iron, steel and cutlery industries … or just a good neet aht!
